In 2002, Chris Martell founded the Modern Self-Defense Center after being frustrated with the lack of high-level, nontraditional Martial Arts training in Connecticut. He began offering programs in Krav Maga, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Jeet Kune Do, all with an emphasis on giving people answers that they can put to use immediately. Since then, Modern Self-Defense has continued to spread and offer training to individuals and groups of all sizes in public, private, and university settings.
