Porco's Karate Academy teaches the ancient Korean martial art of Tang Soo Do. While there are many benefits to studying this art including improved confidence, respect, humility and perseverance, the three primary purposes of the art are: 1) Self Defense 2) Physical Fitness 3) Self DisciplineTang Soo Do focuses on more than just physical techniques. Directly translated "Do" means "way of life". The Tang Soo Do practitioner should strive to live a good life both in and out of the studio in accordance with the codes, creeds, and tenants of the martial art. Established in 1983. With over 30 years of service, Porco's Karate Academy is the areas longest running martial arts school teaching the ancient Korean art of Tang Soo Do.Porco's Karate Academy was founded by Master Michael Porco Sr. (5th Degree Master). His wife, Sylvia Porco (2nd Degree Black Belt) and his son, Master Michael Porco Jr. (4th Degree Master) play an integral part of the studio's operation.Having trained extensively under Grandmaster Robert E.
