The Capoeira Brasil CT offer classes for Adults and Kids ages 3 to 16. Classes are held by Professor Tuzinho & Instrutora Tomate who are capoeristas with more than a decade of experience in Capoeira and teaching. Our group has started a new chapter in the Hartford Area however we are part of a larger group of Grupo Capoeira Brasil members who practice Capoeira in 6 continents. Our Instructors have extensive experience working with children. We find children benefit from Capoeira in many ways. Not only do they become more physically fit and health conscious, but also they also learn a new language, play musical instruction, nets and gain leadership skills.Capoeira is a fun and intense workout known to burn over 1,500 calories in one session. But the benefits of Capoeira go beyond physical development. The blend of martial arts, dance, music and acrobatics will also strengthen self-esteem, concentration, coordination and creativity. In his teachings, Sanders emphasizes the importance of self-expression by encouraging his students to be in control of their bodies and challenge themselves. We explores other cultural dances such as the Fisherman Dance (Puxada de Rede) Samba and Stick dances (Maculêlê).The rich history of Capoeira stretches back 500 years during the Colonial slavery era in Brazil when slaves searched for a simple hope of survival amid abusive and inhumane conditions. On November 26, 2014, Capoeira gained the United Nations heritage status. Established in 2013. The Capoeira Brasil Hartford is lead by Professor Tuzinho and Instrutora Tomate who have just move permanently to the Hartford Area and have started teaching classes. Our group is part of Grupo Capoeira Brasil which has members throughout the world. Both of our instructors have been practicing Capoeira for over a decade and they are known and respected in the Capoeira community. They are committed to building a strong presence in Connecticut.
