Today, YWCA New Britain is where women turn to join a dynamic community united by a passion for positive social change, racial justice, and economic empowerment. We work to speak out on behalf of women and girls and the issues they face today- racial, ethnic, and gender disparities; domestic violence and sexual assault; lack of after-school programs; and the urgency for job training in a struggling economy. In carrying out the mission of YWCA, programs are designed to address the root causes of poverty in the communities we serve, namely: financial illiteracy, births to teen moms, violence against women, and lack of access to affordable childcare.
